Pain Management (chronic)

Pain is very personal and subjective, but it is also very real.  There is no one answer on how to treat pain; every person and situation is different.   13-30% of Canadians suffer from chronic pain.

Determining the causes of pain can be complicated.  Some examples include – physical injury such as a car accident or sports injury, medical conditions such as arthritis, cancer, fibromyalgia, fractures and osteoporosis, nerve damage, chronic fatigue and possibly depression.

Some people are able to reduce their pain through lifestyle adjustments such as weight loss, improved nutrition, stretching and muscle strengthening, and physiotherapy and occupational therapy.  Other people may require medications to help manage pain.

Finding the right combination of drug and non-drug treatments can be challenging - our Medicine Centre Pharmacists are ready to work with you towards your goals.
